From the Quarterly Newsletter (Winter 2011)
The Brown Room is doing wonderful! We had a very busy summer. We are sad to see the warm weather go away, however we are looking forward to all of the upcoming holidays. The students have been working very hard towards mastery of their IEP goals. Every student has mastered at least one of their IEP goals over the summer. T.H. is working very hard on addition and subtraction with regrouping and making amazing progress. A.G. has almost mastered telling time to the minute on an analog clock. D.B. is really finding success working at Holiday Inn. J.L. can write his name in cursive with 100% legibility. A.B. is doing a great job working on his communication of feelings with the staff members. L.B. is also working on her communication and learning how to use music during sensory breaks to keep her focused on learning. The students are also excelling at yoga which is done twice a week. The students are learning how to use the techniques that they use in yoga to help them during stressful or anxious times during their everyday schedule. We would like to welcome Mr. Jeremy to our classroom! Mr. Jeremy has been a great addition to the AAL.
