From the October Quarterly Newsetter
By Lindsey Greer
The Red Room is ROCKIN! We welcomed in a new staff member, Mr. David. I am happy to say that our new line-up is working out well, and we are ready for the fall season. As of August I celebrated my one-year in the classroom and I am so proud of our students! These kids have grown so much! Not only developmentally, but let me tell you some of these kids are getting tall! I’d like to give you a quick update on our classroom roster, and what they have seen over the past quarter. I asked each of my staff members what had impressed them the most about our students this quarter and this is what they had to say.
We have one staff member celebrating her 2 year anniversary this month, Miss Missy, and she says,” The children are really becoming more independent with their self care goals.” Miss Kristen, who will be celebrating her year in the next few months, says “The students have been working very hard on their math, reading and motor goals during learning centers. They are completing more work than they had before.” Mr. Todd has been in and out of our room over the summer, but still had noticed a positive change with his comment, “I think transitions to and from the vans, and from room to room in the school have definitely improved.” Our newest member, Mr. David, says that he feels like the students have accepted him into the classroom, despite yet another change.” I am so lucky to have such an amazing staff!
As the holiday season approaches, our students will be decorating the classroom with fun art projects. We will be sure to send these projects home after the school gets a good look at them! It should be a fun break for them after all the hard work they do each day. The students will also have the chance to participate in activities revolving around the changing of the seasons and the holidays of the fall/winter season. I’m looking forward to the adventures we will have during the next few months! It’s always busy in the Red Room!
