The Autism Academy of Learning has completed its second annual harvest! Once again the school partnered with the Toledo Zoo ZOOTeens Program and Toledo Grows Program to build a prosperous garden on the school grounds. Over the course of the garden project, students learn about plant growth and the life cycle of the garden, learn about various food sources with an emphasis on a diverse and healthy diet and learn to care for the environment.
Students gain experience in plant care, landscapi ng and similar employment opportunities. Students participate in social interaction with non-disabled peers and assist in furnishing the nearby community with fresh vegetables by providing the Assumption Outreach Center with vegatables for local families in need.
