By Rachel Cisco & Carol Holmes
We would like to thank everyone for their participation in our fundraisers and school events. The PTO’s efforts allow us to have special events like the school picnic, field trips, Fun Day, balloon release, and trick-or-treating. We’d like to update you on recent fundraisers and remind you of ongoing ones. We’d also like to highlight some recent events sponsored by the PTO.
COIN DRIVE
Total Deposit: $384.21
A semi-annual Coin Drive was held in early October. We would like to thank all the families who participated!
CONGRATULATIONS & THANKS TO EDDIE AND SOMMER
Thank you to former AAL employees Eddie and Sommer (Barnes) Clayborne for their generous donation to the Autism Academy of Learning in honor of their recent wedding. This gift was applied toward the Coin Drive. They wanted to do something nice for the students and we thank them for their kindness!
GENERAL MILLS BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Thank you to everyone who has been saving and sending in box tops. We will soon be receiving a check for $ 340.60 from our latest submission. Please ask your family, friends and co-workers to collect box tops for you on behalf of our school so that we can maximize our efforts. Each box top is worth ten cents.
KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS
Many of you have been faithful supporters of the Kroger Community Rewards ongoing fundraiser by signing up for your reward points to go to the school. As of April 1, all cards had to be re-registered and we have found that this has caused some issues. It appears that many of the people we registered through the PTO are no longer valid, and it will be necessary for those people to re-register their card using their own e-mail. You can check the bottom of your Kroger receipt and if the Autism Academy of Learning’s name shows up, you are still registered for the school. If not, please take a few moments to register your card. You can do so by accessing the link on the school’s web page at www.theautismacademy.org.
MEIJER COMMUNITY REWARDS
If you have not yet enrolled in the Meijer Community Rewards program and would like to do so, please request an application from the school. This program is like the Kroger Community Rewards and when you swipe your rewards card, points go toward our school to receive money.
COKE REWARDS PROGRAM ENDING
The school will no longer be participating in the Coke Rewards program. We are just too small to make it pay off, especially for the amount of time spent inputting numbers from caps. We are making a final purchase soon of construction paper for the classrooms from the caps. You may want to consider donating your caps to another school or worthy organization. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this program in the past!!

Help Ronald McDonald House of NW Ohio with Pop Tabs!
The AAL will begin collecting pop tabs from pop cans to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. They send them to a recycling station where they are paid market price for recycled aluminum and then they use this money to buy food to stock their kitchen pantries. Every year over 500 families stay at Ronald McDonald House free of charge while their children receive medical care in Toledo. Ask your family and friends to save their pop tabs as well. The AAL received a grant for $3,200 from Ronald McDonald House Charities of NW Ohio almost two years ago that helped us build our Snoezelen Multisensory Room. Please help us give back to this very generous organization!
