The Vocational Program at the Autism Academy of Learning was first established in May of 2007 with our Holiday Inn French Quarter location. Since then we have expanded into four different sites off campus and two in-house vocational programs. About the Vocational Program
We currently work with the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg, Ohio, Goodwill Industries in Toledo, Ohio, the Humane Society in Toledo, Ohio, and will soon be starting at St. Charles Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
The Autism Academy of Learning's vocational program is intended to be twofold:
1)provide tangible work experience as well as meaningful and enriching social interaction that is both age and developmentally appropriate within a supportive environment
2) provide meaningful and enriching contact with the community by increasing community awareness and support for individuals with Autism
Holiday Inn French Quarter
At the Holiday Inn French Quarter our students work in two separate areas. Each of these areas consists of different jobs allowing our students to experience a variety work activities.
*tearing down rooms
*vacuuming
*wiping down hallways
*folding pool towels
*etc.
*washing dishes
*putting away clean dishes

Goodwill
At Goodwill on Cherry St. in Toledo, Ohio out students work in two different areas so as to have the opportunity to participate in a variety of work opportunities.
*dry mopping floors
*wiping down tables
*vacuuming
*etc.
Retail:
*straightening merchandise
*organizing racks
*restocking shelves
*etc.

Humane Society
At the Humane Society our students help with the many aspects of taking care of the animals.
